Being crafty..

I'm not a crafty person by any means.  I always wanted to be and would try but that always resulted in supplies bought and sitting in my closet or a scrap book with 3 pages done.  I just don't have the patience or the imagination to do a lot of those things.  I really want to change that though..especially for Jack and Ben.  I'd love to do fun things with them but that means I have to 1) come up with fun things to do and 2) get over the fact that it's going to get messy and I'll just have to suck it up, haha!

Anyway, I saw a really cute home made wreath on another blog (The Paro Post) and wanted to try it.  Aside from Christmas, our door is naked but I wanted something spring and summery.  I figured it looked easy enough that even a craft virgin could handle it.  I stocked up at Joann's and I think I did a pretty good job.  I love how it turned out..very simple but pretty!  Although simple, it's giving me the motivation to want to do other things so here's to hoping I stick to the crafty things!

Mother's Day

Fun at a super cute park..

plus a nice, long walk

plus stopping to smell, I mean blow, the weeds :)

plus cuddles with my boys

plus ice cream and music at an awesome farm (don't have a picture of that!) equals a great Mother's Day.  I'm a lucky girl! :)

Bubbs & Holesies..as Jack says

I feel bad admitting it but those with multiple children know that when the second one arrives, the first one sort of gets the shaft for a little bit.  We're settling in a bit more so it's getting easier, aside from the occasional really rough day, but it's been hard to really do one on one time with Jack for the last few weeks.  We really do try to make an effort though.

Jack loves bubbles (or bubbs in Jack talk) so we headed out back for a little bit.  I said this at Christmas so I'll say it again..having kids really brings back the joy of certain things.  At Christmas watching his face light up at seeing the tree or Santa riding down the street in a firetruck, brought back the simple joy and fun of the season instead of all the commercialism.  Watching him run around and giggling while chasing bubbles reminds me of the fun, SIMPLE things of being a kid.  You totally forget about this stuff (or at least I did)!

I love his face in this one :)

Oh, yes, and our backyard looks like it's been attacked by a very large gopher.  In our case, the gopher's name is Dan and he's digging holes for our deck.  Jack fell into a pile of mud and was trying to attempt to clean himself off. :)

Silly boy!

Time to clean off!

Watching Daddy from the window..

On another note..we're going to attempt him in his big boy bed!!  Dan's converting Jack's crib to a toddler bed tomorrow.  Wish us luck.  He's always been a very, very good sleeper so I'm weary of messing with a good thing but he can't be in a crib forever.  And if we ever want to travel away from home this summer, he has to get used to a bed since the pack and play is for the baby now!  Dan took some pictures of him in his crib tonight..he's loaded up with his Grinch, elephant and zebra. :)

And I've added a picture of Ben for good measure. :)

Picture time :)

Most, if not all, of these pictures are on facebook but for those of you not on fb, just wanted to add some recent pictures.  Like I said before, Ben is a big boy..way bigger than Jack was at his age.  I just bought a box of size 2 diapers today (we'll only use them at night since we're using cloth diapers during the day) and Jack wasn't in those until at least 6 months.  At his 2 month appt Ben was 12lbs 2oz and 23 3/4 inches long.  Jack wasn't even 12lbs at nearly 3 months.  Ben is already almost half of what Jack weighs (26lbs) and will, most likely, be past that point at his 2 month appt in a few weeks.  I'm loving the leg rolls and the extra chins, he's so stinking cute. :)

One of the first pictures of our new little family.  I was bawling like a little baby when Jack came in and didn't look at the camera.  It's so overwhelming when your "big" baby comes in..all of a sudden, they don't seem so small anymore and you realize how fast they grow.

Jack with his new little brother.  Ben was jaundice hence his 'nice' yellow color, haha!  I do have to add that Jack as been completely awesome with Ben so far.  He gets frustrated with Dan and me but has yet to really take his frustrations out on the baby.  He calls him "Baby B" and it's the cutest thing.  He's been very loving and gentle with him..here's to hoping he stays that way, haha!

My cutie baby :)

Brothers!

My baldy baby :)  He actually has hair on the back of his head so he totally looks like an old man.  And what little he had on the top of his head when he was born is slowing falling out.

This picture is about 2 weeks old so his rolls have gotten better.  He's such a chunky monkey and I love it!

Jack with crazy post bath hair..Daddy decided to play stylist. :)

Our beautiful niece, Journey with Ben.  She was so good with him!

Journey and Jack.  He LOVED seeing his cousins..wish we could see them more.

Jack sometimes lays on the floor like this and flips through books like he's actually reading them.  Cracks me up because he looks so big to me when he does this.

Let's do this again!

I fell off the blogging wagon pretty much exactly a year ago. We had just moved into our new home and and were busy getting things unpacked and decorated the way we wanted. Then July rolled around and I found out I was pregnant. All day sickness quickly took over and feeling crappy, on top of chasing around a toddler, took it's toll and I gave up the blog. I thought about writing posts here and there but I never got around to it. Now, here we are a year later and I feel like there are lots of things that happened this past year that I wish I had record of, but I don't.

Jack's changed so much and is such a little boy now. We had our first Thanksgiving and Christmas in our home and welcomed our new little boy, Ben. I mainly wanted to start up again for Ben. He's a big boy and is SO different from Jack in that way! I love that I can look back on my old blog and see how big Jack was at a certain time and I love that I have it documented somewhere. The actual baby book fell by the wayside after I wrote in his stats from the hospital, haha! It always seems things are recorded for the first child but not so much for the second child and I don't want to do that. I want to remember these things about Ben too so when he asks me one day, I can tell him. I may back track a little here and there but I'm pretty much starting from right now. Here is a link to the old blog if you're interested in reading anything from that..

So, to start this off..things are crazy around here these days! Benjamin Maurice made his debut on St. Patricks Day, March 17th 2011. He weighed in at 8lbs and 13oz..almost 1lb bigger than Jack was. His labor and delivery were complete opposite from labor and delivery with Jack and I found myself spouting, "I can totally do this again!" literally seconds after he was born, haha! The labor/delivery part was cake but being home with him and Jack is another story. This new life is way more of a challenge but is worth it in so many ways and I wouldn't change a thing. We're slowly but surely settling into a new routine. Jack loves his new little brother and has yet to try and hurt him. I know it won't stay this way but I'll take his loving attitude towards him while I can get it, haha! We're blessed to have two sweet little boys!

I have lots of pictures to post but can't figure out how to put them within the post yet but will update when I do. Here's to staying on the blogging wagon this time around! :)
